Things to Do on the Gold Coast at Night

What to do on the Gold Coast at night: a dinner show, the night markets, glow worms in the rainforest, a dinner cruise and the bars. Days, times and prices checked October 2026.

Updated October 2026

The Gold Coast after dark is more than the clubs of Surfers Paradise. For a planned night out, the dinner show at Dracula’s in Broadbeach is the coast’s long-running evening of dinner and cabaret. For a free one, walk the beachfront markets in Surfers Paradise or eat at the street-food stalls of Miami Marketta. And for something only this coast does, take a guided walk into the rainforest behind it to see glow worms.

The short answer

If you want one booked evening, book Dracula’s: a three-course dinner, the Mausoleum and the Ghost Train, then a three-part show of live music, aerial acts and comedy. It costs from US$88 a person on GetYourGuide (checked October 2026), rated 4.7 from 33 reviews, and the listing admits guests aged 16 and over. Plan on about three and a half hours. draculasgoldcoast.com covers the show, the menu and the age rule in depth.

The free nights: markets and the beach

Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets run along the Esplanade on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, from 4 pm to 9 pm, all year. Expect crafts, food and live music by the sand. They are called off in bad weather, so check the markets’ own page before you go on a wet evening.

Miami Marketta, at 23 Hillcrest Parade in Miami, is a covered street-food market with bars and live music that opens from 5 pm on its market nights, Wednesday to Sunday according to the venue’s own access guide (checked October 2026). It is free to walk in and needs no booking. It is about 10 km south of Surfers, and since August 2026 the light rail runs on to Miami and Burleigh Heads.

Glow worms after dark

The glow worms of the Gold Coast hinterland live in damp, dark places: the cave behind the waterfall at Natural Bridge in Springbrook National Park, and the rainforest gullies of Tamborine Mountain. They glow brightest in the warm, wet months, roughly December to March, but they are there all year. The evening walk in the card above goes up Tamborine Mountain, stops for coffee and dessert at The Manor, then walks the Curtis Falls track with a guide. Southern Cross Tour Co needs two days’ notice to cancel free.

The rules at Natural Bridge are strict for good reason: no torch or phone light on the glow worms, no flash, and keep your voice down. A guide handles all of that. The glow worm tours page compares the wild colonies with the man-made caves.

Up high: SkyPoint at night

The SkyPoint Observation Deck on the Q1 tower in Surfers Paradise is open until 9 pm, 230 metres up, and the city lights along the beach are a different view from the daytime one. After 8 pm the deck becomes 18 and over, with a smart dress code and photo ID. The GetYourGuide ticket costs from US$26 (checked October 2026), is valid for a year and lets you go up at any time during opening hours, but it cannot be refunded. See SkyPoint tickets.

For adults

Does the Gold Coast have good nightlife? Yes, if you know where to look. Surfers Paradise has the clubs and late bars, around Orchid Avenue and Cavill Avenue. Broadbeach is restaurants, cocktail bars and Dracula’s. Burleigh Heads and Miami are where the beach bars and live music are.

For a group night out, the coast has two bookable evenings beyond the dinner show. Alcotraz is a prison-themed cocktail bar where actors play the inmates and guards, from US$50, for 18 and over. Magic Men is a male revue with sparkling wine and finger food, from US$50, also 18 and over. Both are on the dinner show page.

One week to plan around

Schoolies Week, when Queensland’s school leavers celebrate, runs from 21 to 27 November 2026, and its night-time hub is on Surfers Paradise beach. If you are not a school leaver, that is a week to eat out in Broadbeach or Burleigh rather than Surfers.

Getting home

The G:link light rail runs along the coast from Helensvale through Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, and since 9 August 2026 on through Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach and Miami to Burleigh Heads. Dracula’s is a short walk from the Broadbeach stops. The glow worm tour and the dinner cruise either pick you up or start from Main Beach, so none of these nights needs a car.
