"Amazing experience! My instructor Jeff was super sociable, friendly, and pleasant, and made me feel completely at ease the whole time. I think that’s a big reason why I didn’t feel nervous at all. I had so much fun and would definitely recommend it. 😊"

How a Tandem Skydive Works
From booking early in your trip to the walk off the beach.
Book Early in Your Trip
Skydives depend on the weather. Gold Coast Skydive suggests booking at the start of your stay, so a cancelled jump can move to another day.
Check the Limits
You must be 16 or over. Gold Coast Skydive's limit is 115 kg; Skydive Australia's is 110 kg, with a surcharge over 94 kg.
Train, Then Fly
Your instructor briefs you before the flight; on a tandem jump you are harnessed to them for the whole descent.
Land and Collect Your Certificate
Both jumps end with a certificate. Photos and video are not included in the Gold Coast jump's price.

Over the Gold Coast

Up to 15,000 feet over Cape Byron, a 20-minute scenic flight and return transfers.
See this jump →Gold Coast Skydive is the one for a jump without a trip across the border: you land on the beach. You get yourself to the meeting point, since hotel transfers are not included, and photos and video are extra. The weight limit is 115 kg.
Skydive Australia costs about US$100 less and includes the drive from Surfers Paradise, a 20-minute scenic flight over Byron Bay’s beaches and Cape Byron, and up to 60 seconds of freefall from up to 15,000 feet. The price also includes three months’ membership of the Australian Parachute Federation with its personal accident insurance. Jumpers over 94 kg pay a surcharge and the limit is 110 kg; tell the operator in advance if you are under 18 or over 94 kg.
Practical: weather, clocks and risk
Skydives depend on the weather, so Gold Coast Skydive asks you to book at the start of your trip, leaving days to move the jump if it is called off. Byron Bay is in New South Wales, which runs an hour ahead of Queensland from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, so check which clock your pickup time uses. Skydive Australia warns that parachuting is inherently dangerous, and that weather or your own health can add to the risk. If you would rather float than fall, a sunrise hot air balloon flight costs from US$202; for height without leaving the building, see SkyPoint.
